Indigenous Day of Prayer - June 21, 2026
National Indigenous Peoples Day is a celebration of language, culture, and history. Join us in person or online at 10:30 am.
Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on this Sunday, June 21 (Indigenous Day of Prayer):
- Edith Gardell will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
- Jim Louter will lead a moment of thanks for our church staff.
- Edith Gardell will read the scripture, Psalm 96:11-12 and Micah 6:8.
- Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship and will offer a reflection, "All My Relations."
- Paul Grose and the choir will lead us in music and song. The Gift of Music will be "Praise to Our God." It is one of the first hymns composed by Ron Klusmeier (b. 1946), a Canadian hymn writer and former minister of music at Glebe-St. James. This hymn-anthem based on Psalm 113:1-8 was originally written for the congregation of Erindale United Church in Mississauga. The tune is RICHARDSON-BURTON.
♪ This week's organ prelude, "The Mountains Shall Sing," is an original composition by Dale Wood (1934-2003). The piece was inspired by Isaiah 55:12, "The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing."
♪ This week's postlude, "Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above," is an organ setting collaboration by Dan Forrestand Douglas E. Wagner of the hymn tune AMSTERDAM from John Wesley's 1742 Foundery Collection.
