Please join us this Sunday, March 1st, for both our Sunday service and our Annual Congregational Meeting

February 27, 2026

This Sunday, the second Sunday in Lent, our worship service will incorporate our Annual Meeting, starting at 10:30 followed by a potluck lunch.  You can be with us in person, or participate via a zoom link.  There will be no livestream on YouTube.

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James this Sunday which will include various Annual Meeting motions within the Order of Service:

  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service.
  • Wendy Bergeron will welcome us and introduce the first of three motions needed for the Annual Meeting
  • David Brown will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Barb Colye will read the scripture from Luke 7:36-50.
  • Our Minister of Music, Paul Grose, and the choir will lead us in music and song; the Gift of Music will be "I Dream a World" with Geoff McGuire (trumpet) and special guest Irene Grose (violin). "I Dream a World" is the final number from the musical "A Vision Unfolding" by Kyle Pederson, a Minneapolis composer. The text is a poem by U.S. poet, playwright, activist and leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance, Langston Hughes. This selection commemorates the conclusion of Black History Month.

Today’s Instrumental Music (Prelude and postlude)

"Jesus Walked this Lonesome Valley" is an arrangement of an African-American spiritual by Dale Wood, a California-based church music composer. Wood calls his compositions "Wood works for organ."

"Carillon Toccata" is by Douglas Wagner (b. 1952), a high school teacher, church musician and composer from Indianapolis. The organ setting highlights flute and bell sounds, and includes an appearance by the zimbelstern, a novelty stop consisting of a revolving star-shaped wheel adorned with randomly tinkling bells.

Here is the bulletin for the service which incorporate the agenda for the Annual Meeting and allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:30 am on zoom; after the service ends, we will try to save it as a recording.
