Please join us this Sunday, October 27 as we celebrate Reformation Sunday

October 27, 2024

We would be pleased if you would join us, either in person or on-line, as we observe Reformation Sunday.  The service starts at 10:30 am.

Reformation Sunday?  What's that?  Today we remember the Protestant Reformation which is considered to have begun on October 31st, 1517, when the Roman Catholic monk, Martin Luther, nailed his 95 theses (criticisms) to the wooden front door of the castle church in Wittenberg, Germany. This is a way of saying I have a few problems with how the church is behaving. Furthermore, he felt that the church authority were blind to the concerns of the laity. Others felt similarly, and soon a reformation of the way people worshiped and thought about God was underway and the Protestant Reformation was born and continues to this day!

Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service. Wayne MacWhirter will welcome us, Jim Louter will offer the land acknowledgement, and Rev. Sue Toller will lead the Theme Conversation for children and adults. Barb Coyle will read the scripture: Mark 10:46-52.  Our Minister of Music, James Caswell and the choir will lead us in music and song; the anthem will be "And the Father will Dance" by Mark Hayes.

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.
