Pease join us this Sunday October 25 2026

October 23, 2026

We are hoping you can join us at 10:30 on Sunday, the 25th, (which is the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost) in person or online!

What draws us together?

Rev Teresa will  ask us to ponder this question.  There is something rather wonderful about the question at the heart of to-day’s Gospel reading. A religious leader asks Jesus which commandment is the greatest. Out of all the teachings, all the laws, all the expectations about how people should live faithfully, which one matters most?

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on this Sunday, October 25th:

  • Ruth Burnett-Cole will welcome us and will also acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Donna Fay Mailhot will read the scripture, Matthew 22:34-46
  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship and will offer a reflection, "What draws us together?"
  • Music Director Paul Grose and the choir will lead us in music and song. The Gift of Music will be "Put Peace into Each Other’s Hands" by Words by Fred Kaan, music by John Purifoy Tune: ST. COLUMBA (Traditional Irish melody)

Musical Acknowledgements

This Sunday's organ prelude is by Colin Mawby (1936-2019), an English organist, choral conductor and composer.

The postlude is by Norman Warren (1942-2021), an English composer of many hymns and organ pieces as well as the author of "Journey Into Life."

The lyrics of today's choir anthem, "Put Peace into Each Others Hands" are by Fred Kaan (1929-2009), a hymn writer who frequently collaborated with Ron Klusmeier, former music director of Glebe-St. James.

Here is the bulletin for the service which allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can stream the service live at 10:30 am on YouTube. The announcements are also available here.

Today, we remember that history. We remember Survivors. We remember the children who never returned home. We remember families and communities who continue to live with the consequences.
