Please join us this Sunday, February 2nd at 10:30 am

January 31, 2025

This Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Epiphany - join us in person or on-line as you are able starting around 10:30 am

This week and next, Rev. Dr. Teresa will be away providing care for her parents.  Ruth Burnett-Cole, one of our licensed lay worship leaders, will lead us in today's service.

Ruth Burnett-Cole will lead the service. Liz Elton will welcome us, Andy Hamilton will offer the land acknowledgement and Rev. Sue Toller will give the Theme Conversation for children and adults. Donna Fay Mailhot will read the scriptures: Luke 4:21-30. Our Minister of Music, James Caswell and the choir will lead us in music and song; the anthem will be "The Gift of Love"  an American folk tune, arr. Hal H. Hopson.  Elizabeth Elton will accompany on the flute.

In today's message, a continuation of the message from last week (Jesus first sermon in the synagogue at Nazareth), Ruth Burnett-Cole reminds us that God calls us to work where and when God pleases. If the scripture is to be fulfilled, it must be in our hearing it, our embodying it, our acting upon it – literally, our being it. And to become the fulfillment of the Word of God, we need to let go of all notions that Jesus, the hometown kid, is ours, and begin to figure out what it means that “we are his.” He has a special claim on us, not we on him.

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.
