Pentecost Sunday - May 24 2026

May 22, 2026

Please join us - in person or online starting at 10:30 - as we celebrate Pentecost!

Please wear something red this Sunday (in keeping with the 'flame' theme!)

Also, we are celebrating communion, so if you are joining us from home, prepare a cracker and some juice or other beverage, and celebrate with us.

Finally, if you are with us in person and concerned about what can be seen during the livestream, the livestream camera only captures the chairs at the front of the church. Sitting in the pews or at the back will keep you off camera. During the theme conversation, only the backs of children’s heads are shown. – The Worship Team

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on this May 24 Sunday:

  • Ruth Burnett-Cole will welcome us.
  • David Brown will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Lize Elton will read the scripture, Acts 2:1-21
  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship.
  • Paul Grose and the choir will lead us in music and song. The Gift of Music this week will be "The Spirit Sings" by Mark Hayes and featuring the father/daughter duo of Paul and Irene Grose on piano.
  • The choir anthem is a medley of two African American spirituals arranged by Mark Hayes: "I'm Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing" & "Every Time I Feel the Spirit," with accompaniment for one piano, four hands.
  • This week's organ postlude, "In Christ There Is No East Or West," is an arrangement by Dale Wood (1934-2003) of the traditional hymn tune McKEE, which was composed by Harry T. Burleigh in 1939 with a melody adapted from the African American spiritual, "The Angels Done Changed My Name."

Here is the bulletin for the service which allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can stream the service live at 10:30 am on YouTube.
