Please join our All Saints Day service - Sunday, November 1, 2026

October 30, 2026

Please join us - in person or online - at 10:30 am EST. That's standard time! Don't forget to "fall back."

What brought you to this congregation?

This Sunday, Rev Teresa will ask, what brought you here and what keeps you coming. This reflects our important congregational conversation that will occur on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 pm.

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on this Sunday, November 1:

  • Wendy Bergeron will welcome us.
  • Pam Fitch will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Brad Munro will read the scripture, Matthew 5:1-12 (that's the Beatitudes).
  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship and will offer a reflection, "The Joy We Find, the Joy we Share."
  • Music Director Paul Grose and the choir will lead us in music and song. Our choir anthem, "Spirit of Comfort, Spirit of Hope" by David Angerman and Douglas Nolan, has a story -- it was composed to commemorate the repair of a church roof damaged by a tornado. Paul chose it to mark the conclusion of our own roof repairs! You may hear a foreshadowing of Advent in the opening melody.

Musical Acknowledgements

This week's organ prelude is by Andrew Gant (b. 1963), a British composer, singer, author, teacher and politician. A fughetta is a short piece with contrapuntal imitation in a light version of Baroque style.

The organ postlude is by Gordon Young (1919-1998), an American organist and composer of organ and choral works. A cortège is a funeral processional, chosen today to commemorate All Saints Sunday, a traditional time for honouring the dead.

Here is the bulletin for the service which allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can stream the service live at 10:30 am on YouTube. The announcements are also available here.

Today, we remember that history. We remember Survivors. We remember the children who never returned home. We remember families and communities who continue to live with the consequences.
