Seeing What Jesus Sees. Join us in person or online at 10:30 am.

Brooklyn Museum - He Sent them out Two by Two (Il les envoya deux à deux) - James Tissot

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on this Sunday, June 14 (the third Sunday after Pentecost):

  • Pam Fitch will welcome us.
  • Marsha Hay Snyder will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Donna-Fay Mailhot will read the scripture, Matthew 9:35 - 10:8.
  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship and will offer a reflection, "Seeing What Jesus Sees."
  • Paul Grose and the choir will lead us in music and song. The Gift of Music will be "I'm Going to Live So God Can Use Me," an African-Amercian Spiritual arranged by Wendall Whelum.

♪ Today's choir anthem is a medley of the pop-classical fusion hit "The Prayer" by Canadian songwriter David Foster and the 1861 hymn "Lead Me, Lord" by Samuel Sebastian Wesley.

♪  Today's organ prelude and postlude are both settings by Douglas E. Wagner of contemporary hymns. "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace" was published in 1967 by South Africa-born UK-based composer and BBC broadcaster Sebastian Temple with lyrics historically attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi (but first appearing anonymously in the French magazine La Clochette in 1912).

"Sing a New Song" was published in 1972 by American hymn writer Dan Schutte and appears in Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and Methodist hymn books.

Here is the bulletin for the service which allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can stream the service live at 10:30 am on YouTube.

Today, we remember that history. We remember Survivors. We remember the children who never returned home. We remember families and communities who continue to live with the consequences.
