Thanksgiving 2025 - Please join us this Sunday, Oct 12 at 10:30

October 10, 2025

You can join us in person or on-line this Sunday as we express our thanks for all the good things God has given us!

Canadian Thanksgiving isn’t the Pilgrims and Indians story we get flooded with every year by American media. Canadian thanksgiving is intercultural. It’s Indigenous roots go deep – way back before Europeans were here on Turtle Island. Most, if not all, Indigenous communities had rites of thanksgiving that were woven into their practices around the fall harvest. We like the idea that Canadian thanksgiving began with the deep cycle of the earth’s bounty recognized as life-giving by the Indigenous people who, here in this region, are the Algonquin who have never unceded or surrendered this land, and who continue to care for her.

Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service.  Liz Elton will welcome us, and Rev. Teresa will offer the land acknowledgement. Edith Gardell will read the scripture: Psalm 26. Our Minister of Music, James Caswell and the choir will lead us in music and song; the Gift of Music will be 'For the Beauty of the Earth'  (John Rutter).

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.

Join in on the online offering plate for M&S, Outreach & GSJ operational needs! If donating online, you can indicate on the 'paypal' page where you want your gift to be dedicated (our operating fund, capital fund, music fund, or other charity). Gifting by means of e-transfer is now accepted using the email: [email protected] (please indicate to which fund or charity you wish your donation to go to).

You can now view the weekly announcement slides or on our "What's Happening?" page. Scroll through at your own pace, or let them auto-play - your choice! Sign up for our e-Update to keep up on more of the life and work of the church.

Let us know how we are doing! If you have any ideas, comments or feedback about the online (or in person!) worship experience, please contact the worship committee at: [email protected].
