Third Sunday of Easter - April 19, 2026

"Were not our hearts burning within us?" Join us on the figurative Road to Emmaus in person or online at 10:30 am.

The Road to Emmaus by Duccio di Buoninsegna

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James on the Third Sunday in Easter:

  • David Cubbage will welcome us.
  • Teresa Burnett-Cole will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • April Yorke will read the scripture, Luke 24:13-35.
  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead us in worship.
  • Our Minister of Music, Paul Grose, and the choir will share "Stay with Us" as a Gift of Music. The choir anthem comes from an Easter cantata of the same name composed by Ron Klusmeier, a former music director at GSJ, with lyrics by Walter Farquharson, written in 1989 and based on the Emmaus Walk story from Luke 24.
  • The organ prelude, "When He Cometh," is a setting by Gordon Young (1919-1998), an American composer and organist, of the traditional children's hymn on the tune JEWELS. The registration makes use of the somewhat uncommon French Horn stop to highlight the melody.
  • The organ postlude, "Postlude in G," is by Henry Kihlken (1939-2017), a Lutheran organist and composer from Ohio.

Here is the bulletin for the service which allows you to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can stream the service live at 10:30 am on YouTube.
