Hilda Sabadash - Remembrance Gathering

April 10, 2026

In lieu of flowers please bring contributions for Ottawa's Food Banks.

On the left, a photo of Hilda in a blue cowled necked sweater. On the right, details about Hilda's Remebrance Gathering on Saturday, April 11 at 11 am.

On Tuesday, April 7, our sister Hilda left us all with the benefit of – as she said – "the timely blessing of MAID" (Medical Assistance in Dying).

Hilda lived a life of service to others even as she lived with a debilitating and painful disease for 53 years. Her commitment to others and sense of humour buoyed her spirits to the end.

We will be having a "Remembrance Gathering" for Hilda this Saturday, April 11 at 11:00am at Glebe-St. James United Church. Glebe-St. James was Hilda's spiritual home for 35 years. She was an active and contributing member at her church, serving on several committees and through her role as a Licenced Lay Worship Leader.

Children are welcome, and Hilda has chosen some hymns especially for them. There will be an informal lunch/reception in the church hall after the gathering.

Please dress comfortably.

In lieu of flowers please bring contributions for Ottawa's Food Banks.
