Patchwork Pilgrimage 2023

We Quilt Again!

Quilters from 2022's retreat - the first retreat since the beginning of the pandemic!

Glebe-St. James United Church invites you to the 15th Annual Patchwork Pilgrimage at Gracefield Christian Camp & Retreat Centre Gracefield, Quebec (map) this Fall!

Here is the brochure for this year’s quilt retreat, so you can print it out, complete and return the registration (or complete it electronically and email it to the office), and start packing!

The retreat will be held from September 22 to 24, 2023

Lone Star Baby Quilt – This year we are excited to present a special project. We will be making a Lone Star baby quilt. You can make one for your own favourite baby, or make one to donate to St. Mary’s Home. Big Lone Star quilts can be quite a complex thing, but we think we have toned it down with a simple version of a baby quilt-sized Lone Star. Make sure you open the attached Lone Star Colouring Page to help you plan yours.

Early-bird Quilters Arrive on Thursday – Something else new this year is the option to arrive at camp on Thursday afternoon and have your own personal 24-hour retreat to do whatever you want. Read? Sew? Quilt? Swim? Hike???? We have been asked about doing this by several people in the past, so we thought we would give it a try. The cost for three meals and accommodations (in White Pine Lodge only) will be $140 for early-bird quilters, in addition to the regular retreat fee of $230 for the rest of the weekend.

Yes, like everything else it seems, the fees for the retreat are higher to reflect the higher costs at the camp. The $230 represents only a very small margin over costs so there need to be at least 20 paying quilters to break even. If it looks like we won’t make that number, we will make a decision in early September to cancel rather run a deficit (and, of course, any fees received by then will be returned). If you know you are likely to be able to attend, please RSVP early to help with planning.

Wishing you all the very best for the summer.

Cheers,

Chris Burbridge
