Sunday, November 27 2022 - First Sunday of Advent

November 26, 2022

Join us this Sunday for the first Sunday of Advent in person or on-line - 10:30 am

A very special warm welcome to those of you joining us here in person or via livestream this first Sunday of Advent, November 27th, 2022 at 10:30 am - and to those who are tuning in to the recorded services later in the week! If you'd like to read the sermon, prayers and even the children's story, the Service Bulletin is linked below. Today we are also celebrating communion, so if you are at home, please prepare yourself with an appropriate beverage and bread or cracker.

Susan Toller will be leading the children out of the sanctuary for stories, games and crafts following “A time for all God’s Children” during the service. Please contact Susan for more information and/or to confirm your child's participation (especially for children under 2, as we may need additional assistance). She looks forward to meeting with them!

Our service this week will be lead by our Minister the Rev. Teresa Burnett-Cole. Our scripture reading will from Matthew 1:1-17 and will be read by Wayne MacWhirter. James Caswell, our Minister of Music and the choir will lead us in music and song.

Our service bulletin with hymns, texts and announcements is linked here.

Join in on the virtual offering plate for M&S, Outreach & GSJ operational needs! If donating online, you can indicate on the 'paypal' page where you want your gift to be dedicated. Gifting by means of e-transfer is now accepted using the email: [email protected] (please indicate to which fund you wish your donation to go to).

You can watch the video of the service here on YouTube. Please consider 'subscribing' to the GSJ YouTube channel and use the 'notification' (the 'bell' symbol on the GSJ YouTube channel) to be notified when we go live. If, for any reason, the webcast is interrupted you should still be able to connect by looking for the red 'live' thumb-nail image.

Zoom Coffee Hour:

As an experiment until the end of December, the popular weekly Zoom coffee hour will take place at 11:30 am right after the service, instead of 1:00 pm. The Zoom host will be at a computer in Fraser Hall at the in-person coffee time, and people who are there can stop by to say hello to the Zoomers. As a reminder, if you're joining us remotely, the link is Zoom coffee hour and should start right after the service livestream is completed - around 11:30 am.

Today, we remember that history. We remember Survivors. We remember the children who never returned home. We remember families and communities who continue to live with the consequences.
