Remembrance Sunday - November 9, 2025

November 8, 2025

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. either in person or online for this service.

Poppies are placed on the War Memorial in Ottawa

Today, we gather in solemn remembrance to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. As we reflect on the cost of liberty, let us also consider the profound lessons from scripture that challenge and inspire us —specifically, the story of the centurion’s faith in Luke 7:1-10.

Here's what you can expect at Glebe St-James this Sunday:

  • Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service.
  • George LeDrew will welcome us.
  • Pam Fitch will acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Algonquin People, unceded and unsurrendered.
  • Elizabeth Elton will read the scripture from Luke 7:1-10.
  • The Theme Conversation will reflect Remembrance Day.
  • Our Minister of Music, James Caswell, and the choir will lead us in music and song; the Gift of Music will be "When a Child Lights a Candle" by Nancy Telfer.

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs, and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am on YouTube; after the service ends, it will be available to watch as a recording.

Join in on the online offering plate for Mission & Service, Outreach & other GSJ operational needs! If donating online or via e-transfer, you can indicate on where you want your gift to be dedicated (our operating fund, capital fund, music fund, or other charity).
